Running in the mountains offers an exhilerating experience that allows you to cover multiple peaks in a short amount of time. With this freedom comes a certain level of risk and good judgment is needed to ensure a successfull day out. During this workshop we will discuss planning, equipment choice, shoe suitability and navigation. We will spend a few hours indoors then go outdoors for some running and navigation instruction. You will get the most out of this session if you already do some trail running or have dabbled a little in the mountains. Dependant on the group fitness level and weather we will aim to summit one or two 800m peaks.

Sam - Navigation Course 2016
"Had a great day out with Matt revisiting some nav. We covered all the basics, building on the areas I was already familiar with - a very well thought out day and really appreciated Matt's flexible approach to teaching. Looking forward to getting out and practising!
Thanks for a fab day "

Tom - Navigation Course 2016
"Matt is a great instructor and would reccomend him to anybody. His instruction was top class and very relaxed, ive learned alot and will be booking onto another one of his courses."

I've never used a map or compass, will this course be ok for me?
This workshop is aimed at all levels from beginners to advanced. You will be given guidance and instruction throughout the day to ensure you come away with some new skills.

I’m not very fit, how far do we walk?
The workshop aim is to teach you navigation skills not push your physical limits. We normally walk around 10-12 km during the day and have plenty of breaks and stops.

Do you provide equipment?
I can provide maps on request but would always recommend buying your own and a Silva Type 4 Compass. For the day you will only require normal hiking gear and waterproofs.
